MATS hosts two meetings of EUROCONTROL working groups.
The Team Resources Management (TRM) Workshop 2018 was this year hosted by MATS on the 08th and 09th October in Malta. During the 2-day event, more than 35 Human Factors experts and Air Traffic Management (ATM) experts, from 23 Air Traffic Control (ATC) organisations besides MATS and EUROCONTROL, discussed various aspects of TRM, a EUROCONTROL-inspired programme. The objective of TRM is to reduce or minimise the impact of Team related occurrences on ATM operations. The TRM programme was initiated back in 1998 and today nearly all of the EUROCONTROL states have adopted TRM. It is also found outside Europe because both Thailand and Japan have long been using the TRM programme in their Air Traffic operations.
The Autumn meeting of the EUROCONTROL Safety Improvement Sub-Group (SISG) followed the TRM workshop on the 10th and 11th October. The SISG is a specialist advisory body driving safety improvement in the provision of air navigation services. Around 40 experts from more than 30 organisations looked into hot topics such as drones, contingency planning addressing large system failures and action plans for dealing with safety risks that had been identified and analysed in past years.
EUROCONTROL supports European aviation by working closely with its partners to develop a seamless, pan-European air traffic management (ATM) system that fully copes with the growth in air traffic, while maintaining a high level of safety, reducing costs and respecting the environment.
