MATS is currently in the process of gathering the necessary information and lay down its requirements to construct a new Air Traffic Control Tower to provide aerodrome services at Malta International Airport (MIA). The age of the current infrastructure, the increased complexity of mixed mode air traffic operations as well as the operational limitations within the present cabin setup are the main reasons why MATS is embarking on this major project.
On the 21st October 2022, MATS has launched a Preliminary Market Consultation activity (PMC), through which it is inviting market leaders in the field of digital tower technologies to provide their expert opinion on whether the implementation of a Fully Digital ATC Tower or a Hybrid Digital ATC Tower solution is the best solution for air traffic operations at MIA.
To participate in this activity, interested companies are being asked to register through the Maltese Government electronic public procurement system (https://www.etenders.gov.mt/epps/home.do). To access the documentation, insert reference ID MATS/PMC/22-001 in the search tab and select the resulting link to open the PMC home page. To access the PMC document, select ‘Show PMC Menu’ followed by ‘PMC Documents’. On selection, the PMC document will be automatically downloaded to your device.
The associated deadlines for this activity are the following:
- Deadline for the request of any additional information from MATS – 31st January 2023
- Last date on which additional information can be issued by MATS – 28th February 2023
- Deadline for the Submission of the Preliminary Market Consultation Report, including any additional demonstrations – 30th April 2023
Interested economic operators are encouraged to reach out to operations@maltats.com for additional information.
